SBRSD Yearbook - The Aurigan
Mt. Everett published its first yearbook in 1956. The name Aurigan was derived from Auriga, a five star constellation, with the five stars symbolizing the five towns which comprise the Southern Berkshire Regional School District.
The yearbook is a huge undertaking for the students, particularly the editors. Over the years, the process of putting it together has changed and evolved, but the time commitment remains immense.
Yearbook is primarily a senior project with many underclassmen involved. Seniors visit local businesses, contact various representatives, plan and execute fund raising, and photograph the vast array of events that must be included.
Despite the time consuming nature of the job, editors find their work fulfilling and worthwhile. By the end of the year, they find they have gained self-confidence while learning new skills in layout, design, copy, photography, and public speaking.
