Mount Everett Early College

Mount Everett is now an Early College

In partnership with Bard College at Simon’s Rock, SBRSD has been awarded Early College designation from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education.  We are the first public wall-to-wall Early College in the state!

Everyone at Mount Everett is automatically part of the program– which is fully integrated into the high school experience, free of cost to students and families, and transferable to other colleges and universities.

Additional academic and nonacademic supports start in middle school to help students prepare for accredited college courses.

Juniors and seniors are encouraged to take college credit courses. Each year, classes are offered in Math, Arts, Sciences, Humanities, History, and more.

What is Early College?

Early College works by blending elements of high school and college. Mount Everett students are exposed to college coursework and have the option to take additional college classes based on their interests and postsecondary plans.

Students begin exposure to college framework and college campus tours in middle school and take sample coursework in grades 9 and 10. Students in grades 11 and 12 can enroll in college-level courses taught by certified Early College Professors including both Mount Everett and Simon’s Rock faculty.

Early College Supports

Mount Everett Early College maintains many Early College supports for students to take advantage of including, an onsite Early College Internship Coordinator, open study time, guidance support, and peer-to-peer tudors.

Mount Everett & Simon's Rock

Bard College at Simon’s Rock is the leader in early college– they were the nation’s first! Located in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Simon’s Rock is the only college presence in South Berkshire County.

This partnership is one way that Southern Berkshire Regional School District is helping to ease the burden of future educational costs for families, increase student confidence in pursuing higher education coursework, and give students insight into the fields that they express interest in.
