The SBCCP does not provide transportation for children to and from the program. Young children in the program are brought to and from school by the parent/guardian.
Staff:
SBCCP personnel consists of highly qualified educators trained in Early Childhood Education. Some of our educators hold associates, bachelors, and/or master’s degrees. SBCCP is committed to maintaining educators that are consistently on the cutting edge of the Early Childhood Education field. Our educators are provided myriad of opportunities for professional growth. All educators are required to continue preparation in Early Childhood Education by participating in at least 20 hours of professional development which includes but not limited to the EEC essentials training of 12 hours. The personnel are certified in First Aid and CPR.
Curriculum:
The educators thoughtfully plan learning experiences which support problem solving, critical thinking, communication, social skills and relationship building. Goals of planned curriculum are: English language arts, mathematics, science and technology, history and social science, comprehensive health and the arts. Through the curriculum we will promote good health, proper nutrition, personal safety, physical activity and a love for reading (individually or in groups). Our curriculum will explore cultural, social and individual diversity and be linguistically appropriate.
Curriculum varies according to age. As children mature, they engage in increasingly intricate and challenging activities. Year to year, curriculum reflects the dynamic that no one group of children is like another. This flexibility allows our educators the opportunity to assess the nature of their group and design plans accordingly.
Screening Information:
SBCCP uses Teaching Strategies Gold on line assessments for progress reports.
Reports are completed every 3 months for infants and children with special needs and every 6 months for toddlers and preschoolers.
The reports address all developmental domains, including social/emotional, physical, language, cognitive development, literacy, math, science and technology, social studies, and the arts.
Parents of children in the infant, toddler, and preschool classroom have the opportunity to meet for a conference with their child’s teacher at a mutually convenient time two times a year.
Our assessments aid in program adaptations, facilitate transitions to other programs and maintain communication with families.
