AERIAL DRONE COMPETITION (Grades 6-12)

Since the inception of the REC Foundation Aerial Drone Competition in 2023, Mt. Everett Regional School has proudly offered students the opportunity to participate in its competitive drone program. What began with just four dedicated students has quickly grown into a thriving team of 15 participants this past season, reflecting the increasing interest in aviation, engineering, and emerging technologies. Through hands-on experiences in drone operation, programming, teamwork, and problem-solving, students develop valuable STEM skills that prepare them for future careers in engineering, technology, computer science, and other high-demand fields. The program emphasizes critical thinking, communication, and real-world application while challenging students to solve complex missions in a competitive environment.

The success of the Mt. Everett Drone Team has extended well beyond the classroom. Over the past three seasons, the team has earned multiple championships and awards at local competitions, consistently demonstrating excellence in both flight performance and teamwork. This year marked another milestone as three Mt. Everett teams qualified for the prestigious Dragonfly Championship in West Virginia, competing against many of the region’s top programs. The season concluded with the middle school team earning an impressive Runner-Up finish, highlighting the dedication of the students, coaches, and supporters who have helped build one of the region's premier scholastic drone programs.
