The Mt. Everett Electrathon Team has completed a remarkable three-year journey, evolving from a hands-on learning initiative into a competitive electric vehicle (EV) racing team.

From Go-Karts to Electrathon Racing

The team’s journey began three years ago with small-scale 24-volt go-karts, providing student engineers with foundational experience in power delivery, chassis dynamics, and basic electrical systems. As the team's technical skills grew, they stepped up to the competitive Electrathon Race series—an endurance format where vehicles must travel as far as possible within one hour using a strictly limited supply of battery energy.

Vehicle & Engineering Specifications

To meet the rigorous demands of Electrathon competition, the team developed an EV powered by a 36-volt, 35-amp-hour battery configuration. The design requires balancing aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance, throttle management, and battery heat dissipation to maximize total distance over a full hour on track.

The Debut Season (2026 Highlights)

The 2026 racing calendar marked the team's first full year of official Electrathon competition, yielding rapid progress across two major events:

  • Spring 2026 (Lime Rock Park): In its first major test against established regional programs, the team completed over 18 miles at the historic Lime Rock Park course, securing a 10th-place finish in a competitive field of 28 cars.

  • Fall 2026: Applying lessons learned from the spring event, the team optimized power management and driver strategy to exceed 20 miles on track, earning 1st place in the novice category.
